What does ageing well mean to you?
For me, it means easy weight management, movement that matters (meaning, working on the body's musculature. Counting steps is fine, but your individual 9 muscle groups need more love!).
It means having a tasty, easy relationship with food, and enjoying some outside-the-lines eating, but knowing how and when to rein it in...we manage our emotional landscape, so out-of-control bingeing no longer controls us.
It means questioning our outdated, patriarchal health care model that sees women as 'passive' consumers, when stepping into the doctor's office. We are here to take back our choice and our power. Our body. Our choice.
It means putting down healthy boundaries, that say 'no more'...because we've done our share of taking care of others. Now, we are taking care of self. This is NOT self-ish, it is self-care, and it benefits everyone around us.
It means seeing ageing NOT as contracting in, losing function, minimizing our energy, becoming invisible...NO!
It means we are expanding in wisdom, learning, growth. For every challenge we have come through, and there has been many, we are proud of our scars, our stumbles, our regrets, because we stay open to the lessons...we are learning, growing, expanding into our greatest and grandest version of ourselves.
It means walking into a room, and having everyone saying....'WOW...look at her....what IS she doing to look so good?"
Yes, you can. And you deserve it. Own it ladies.
The 40+ woman is the largest population on the planet...and we are here to live a very different way, to walk a different path. We are not our mothers (no offense mom, but I've got work to do...I am STEPPING IN!).
Self love, fearless, and oh, so healthy and joyful. It is our birthright! Who's here with me??
