Have you ever wondered why what you used to do to lose weight and get in shape simply doesn't work anymore?
Most women think it's ageing, but it's not really. Research has long shown us that this isn't true....
It's what I call the "Settling In" aspect. Let me explain (and it may just help you out of your body transformation rut, too)...
I have watched this phenomenon for years as I coached hundreds of women through their 40's and beyond....here's how it goes...
As you age, the body simply gets used to having the excess weight on, and it can be harder to get it off... I often hear women say "what used to work doesn't work anymore" and this is true, it seems. The body gets resistant to losing the excess weight that it has had on it for awhile...and the longer it's been there, the harder the 'turnaround'.
And this also applies in other areas, our food habits, hunger levels, and most important, in our thinking patterns, conditioning and belief system. See, when we get older, we get 'used to' things a certain way, right?
Well, our body and our brain do too. They prefer things to not change. That is built into our nervous system as a way to survive (remember, the body puts survival above all other aspects, first and foremost).
So that is why a different approach is necessary to shake things up, and 'remind' the body (and the brain and nervous system) that it IS do-able. One that resets the nervous system, and creates a different Identity in the brain. Sounds, juicy, doesn't it?
And this is why I am always urging women to start NOW, do NOT do another diet, another HIIT program, another supplement because they are just a bandaid. And you will never get to the real truth here or see any real results in your body shifting.
The longer you wait, the harder it gets, because the body (and brain) are just wanting to stay where they are at: they don't want to get uncomfortable or to have to work at anything.
Problem is, this is when women dig in deeper...more cardio, more calorie cuts, more fasting or whatever, which only puts the body into a deeper rut, and it stays put: it now ensures that it won't let go of the weight!
This isn't about trying harder. It's about trying differently.
