The freedom in reclaiming your health, your body, and moving into ageing with grace, health and joy, is in your belief system around what is possible and where you want to live from.
Every day I speak to women who hate their bodies, loathe the excess weight, feel shame in the food bingeing and over / under control of it all..
They hide out from their family, eating in private... They wake up Monday morning, professing to 'this week get it right' and not fall off their healthy living plans....
And they have been living this way for years. I know the amount of real estate the endless thoughts, silent bargaining and self recrimination take up in our heads.
I lived there for years. It's no fun. It is soul destroying, and it wreaks havoc on your body (no wonder your body won't let go of the weight...it's not safe, and if you are in a chronically elevated stress situation which, BTW, us also a result of a cluttered, self sabotaging brain, your body won't release.
And you will use the 'feel good' chemicals of food to ease the burden, but it only shoots you back down that rabbit hole. It's simply no way to live.
Your issue may not be food or weight, but it could be wine, shopping, social media....it's all the same thing...
Checking out, deflecting, ignoring that which needs to be seen, to shift, but instead, it sends us further down into that shame / guilt circle that repeats itself over and over again....for many many years.
It's simply a habit. Your place of 'normal'.
It's a thinking habit that never ceases, and it sets the stage for depression, anxiety, and living with anger, resentment, resignation and frustration. We go into blaming and complaining (do you notice that this is almost the expected way to converse nowadays?
How did we get here? We are a society of gossipy, negative Nellies that are always talking about the 'others' and how it's all their fault).
Time to pony up, y'all.
