I have always believed that people are either living asleep or awake.
When we live by default, when we see life happening TO us, when we are at the disposal of life's drama, when we define our happiness by how the day rolled out, and what happened along the way...'hmmm....no today was not a good day'... we are asleep at the
wheel.
We live from 'stories' in our head, our default setting that has us fall into well worn thinking patterns and beliefs that don't necessarily support our growth, rather, they keep us within our comfort zone, even when that comfort zone is unhealthy.
Change is fearful, and staying in one place gives us a false sense of security. When we are awake, we are consciously aware of the patterns in our life.
We play 'witness' to all that is going on, as we watch with an impersonal stance at what unfolds. We take responsibility for our life, our choices, and we reach for higher standards in our health and our life.
We strive for growth and understanding, and we aren't afraid to reach for that outside our grasp, because we know that travelling through the unknown and reaching the other side is how we master fear, and when we feel fear, we know we are ready to move to
higher ground...soon.
When it comes to changing our food, losing weight, strengthening the body, moving toward a changed lifestyle and a body and life transformation, there are those that are asleep and those that are awake.
My goal is to wake up the sleeping ones, the women who have accepted their place, their health, their bodies as they are, and feel frustrated that they haven't been able to change anything up to this point. They feel frustrated, without hope, and circling the
drain in diet after diet, plan after plan, to no avail.
Once we get clear on the easy bits - the calories, macro's, movement, timing etc, then we go into deeper waters.... what's happening in her life? Where are her stress points? Where is she giving away her power? What are (or were) her dreams?
Learning about her lifestyle as a whole, the people in her life, her belief system (which is usually outdated, that's where the self sabotage comes in) and her patterns, THEN I get a whole picture of what's really going on.
Because the weight, the lack of health is not the problem, it's a symptom. While this may be hard for some (and some never get there, preferring to keep it on the surface, and that's cool, but it usually means we can't get them to a true Victory in their
health desires), but once it is 'out there', there is almost an audible sigh of relief.
Because what I know for sure is that in order to feel better, to see the 'Big Game' as I see it, the entirety of the person, we must be witnessed and validated in all that we are and do.
Because when we continually compartmentalize, and assume that the body and mind / emotional are separate, we are still living 'asleep'. It is time to wake up. It is a beautiful process, like a flower blooming, and for the first time in years, reaching for the
sun and air, to drink it all in.
For some women, they have not seen the light of day in many many years, decades really. And then the beautiful process of stepping in to who we are, our value, our worthiness, is necessary if we are to complete a body and health transformation that lasts from
this day forward.
Courage, commitment, self care...those are the foundations of living a healthy life, awake and aware, and full of vitality and possibility. When did we lose the dream? When did we fall asleep? When life dictated who we, as women 'should' be, how we should act,
the roles we play. We often lived by default, adjusting to what life threw at us, rather than navigating our own way.
But we are waking up.
This is the Big Wake Up as I call it.
Us ageing women are Change Agents, and we are recrafting and recreating our world. Pioneer women, I say.
"It is women who will change the world", said the Dalai Lama.
Indeed. And I am destined to help one women at a time, reach her victory, embrace her greatness, reclaim her body and her health and know how truly amazing she is.
Because we are amazing.
YOU are amazing. You just forgot your greatness, is all....
Be well ladies.
"Love your body into health', I always say. It is your birthright, and it is the vessel that carries us through this beautiful life of ours.
Treat it with kindness.
Feed it well.
Move it well.
And it will reward you with many sun-filled days ahead.
XO!
