They're in a chronic sympathetic state where their body simply cannot comply.

Here's the deal: The usual recipe is cardio and dieting, but to add cardio or calorie cuts or another diet attempt onto a body that is already in a chronic sympathetic state caused by ageing, hormonal changes and life stresses, as faced by almost every 40+ woman, is only creating more of the same negative physical state.
In other words, her body is deep in stress mode, and likely had been for years, so any attempts at weight loss only creates more stress, both physical and psychological. It's a lose-lose situation, really.
See, this physical stress state increases acidity and cellular stress and hence, the body is simply not willing to allow for fat loss. Nor will it allow for decent shaping as a result of exercise because recovery will be hampered. It also causes a downgrading of the immune system.
I see this in women who are desperate to lose the weight and hence try another diet (keto, paleo, Bernstein, low carb, vegan, IIFYM etc) which only compounds the problem and accelerates the chronic stress state.
And with no weight loss (or 'it's harder to lose weight than it used to be' is what we often hear), they dig in more, harder, to try to make it all work. The 'Diet Triad' is set in stone, setting the stage for weight plateaus and increased set point of where the body feels 'comfortable' in holding weight, which is often higher than last year.
Then they add on cardio, or do a circuit style exercise program like HIIT or Beach Body or Orange Theory or other similar all-in-one body programs and the stress load goes through the roof.
Add in life challenges - faulty marriage, financial woes, caring for family members, work challenges - and this becomes a physiological stress which creates the same environment as the physical stresses mentioned above from age and hormones and diet attempts.
It's a stewing pot of disaster. And women wonder why it's so hard to stay healthy, lean and happy as they age.
Age isn't the problem. It's the strategy. You've been sold a bill of goods, by an industry and people that truly don't understand physiology, metabolism or ageing.
And neither do you, because you don't have the certifications, the knowledge or the success records to showcase. Yet we feel we 'should' be able to slay this thing, because after all, there is so much free info out there so it should be easy. It's just a matter of willpower, right? If I could just do what I know I'm supposed to do...
But it's not about willpower or motivation. This she quickly learns, as the hunger increases, the motivation wanes and she falls back into old habits. What's going on? Her brain is now running the show, because it is on a certain 'setting' for survival, and she just tripped the switch to ON.
These women suffer in silence, and certainly not wanting to let others know that she is silently struggling with her weight and her body...sometimes for decades...and she carries on with a brave face.
If she sees any body re-compositioning results, they're fleeting and don't last long. She goes back down that rabbit hole again, feeling defeated and frustrated. And her negative mindset is feeding her cells (yes, thoughts are things and have a chemical signature that floods the body, as science has found). She is stuck again, in a body that can't comply and a mindset that is in the trash.
The good news is that you CAN shift it. But it takes a different approach. It's not hard. But it does require you throw out what you think you know, and find true leadership and know-how that can show you a fresh, sustainable way to lose the weight, build health and get in awesome shape, and stay there as you age through your now-beautiful, rich life.
