They know by the time we talk, they see the outline, and they understand...what we do is NOT just talk macro's or calories or exercise.
Those are the basics, yes, and they are the
framework of all that we do to age well. But the foundation is the mindset piece...always.
Habits, patterns, beliefs....those are the underpinnings of everything...where we are in our life, our career, our finances and of course, our body and health.
So after we build an individual food plan and get them on a qualified and appropriate movement program, we go inward...
Because the reason you are an emotional eater / binger, the reason you don't feel motivated to train, the reason you allow yourself to get dragged into another diet, fall away, beat yourself up, mess up
your metabolism and dislike the way you are ageing is NOT because of a lack of time or resources or you haven't done enough google searches (usually I have to detox women from all the info out there...that in itself is a habit, somewhat rooted in the need for control, or a guarantee...info junkies can be tough to coach properly).
It's because of the patterns and habits that come into play, and that have been a part of your persona for many, many decades.
The woman that says "I need to think about it' often has an issue with procrastination, a habit that no doubt has stood in the way of her making a decision and moving into change...she just wants to be
fully sure before she moves. Sadly, she rarely moves in the right direction, preferring to stay in her comfort zone.
The woman that wants total control, that needs to
know all the in's and out's before she begins has an issue with control. These women are tough to coach also...they tend to stray easily, thinking that they know best. The coaching relationship has to be firmly defined before we begin.
And the Lone Wolf...the hardest to coax out of
their caves. They thrive on being alone, afraid to be vulnerable or to be 'seen'. They are the ones that fall away and can be very hard to reach...they isolate. But nothing changes...they can live in their safe cave for years, as the world passes them by. Fear is their partner.
So before I bring any
woman into my coaching circle, we need to set ground rules...the need to understand that we have to go into the foundation of who they are, because our habits, self sabotage and more, reside in the unconscious patterns that are, well, unconscious. And these need to be brought out into the light of day.
What
follows is a Journey of Self Discovery, where it all becomes clear, and for the first time, food can become food again for the first time ever, she learns to honour her body and choices, and she is awake, conscious and free for the first time in years, perhaps her whole life.
