To master a successful Body Transformation, it is necessary to get underneath to the habits, patterns and conditioning, the self sabotage that has
kept 95% of the people out there away from their Best Self.
The most important thing of course, is an appropriate structure and strategy around food and exercise. This MUST be done with the 40+ woman in mind. It MUST be
unique, individualised and outside 'the norm' because our bodies, metabolism, recovery and biochemistry is different. Full stop.
Too many trainers and coaches apply what 'they' think is appropriate, without having the experience in working with this unique age group for the majority of their
career.
Experience trumps science every time, I say (unless you want to become a brain surgeon, and then you better have science!).
From the time I began my journey, I have had a deep commitment to personal growth. This unseen avenue is of great interest to me, and it took me a few years to
understand that the reason women could not stay on a Lifestyle Program that was aimed at helping them to lose the weight, get in head-turning shape and look and feel amazing as they aged, was because they did not have the skillset to alter their Mindset. This is something that must be taught. It can't be read from a book (this is an intellectual experience only), it must be taught, witnessed and nurtured through the years.
For as long as I can remember, I sought out those that could teach these things to me. I was (and still am) an avid student. I learn. I listen. I apply. I love to
learn and grow. To not, is stagnation that does not sit well in my body or my life.
For me, the Buddhist approach to life is the most basic to apply. I did not know that I was on this path for many years, only having discovered it along the way
through my own challenges and processes. It is only when I began to delve in that I recognized 'hey, I've thought / done that for years'.
Pema Chodron is one of my favourites, and in my morning readings (one ritual I have always followed and teach to my clients, to increase your energetic frequency
and open you up to receiving that which you ask for (you're asking, right? Not telling...). It is the Shift as I call it, that makes all the difference in the world...
Today's reading: "When we begin to see clearly what we do, how we get hooked and swept away by old habits, our usual tendency is to use that as a reason to get
discouraged, to feel badly about ourselves....but it is moving in the direction of seeing our life as teacher rather than as a burden."
To reach for greatness takes time, effort and visions. But the real gold is in the action, having the courage to continue on despite life, challenges, money,
time.
Too many people stop when they hit a plateau or when things aren't going as expected, and instead of assessing, drawing on a mentor, someone who is well versed in
both exercise physiology and human psychology, they either push harder into it (which backfires when you are 40+) or they quit. They blame life, time, the trainer, busyness.....rinse and repeat...
Or they go onto the next Bright Shiny Object in February or March (when the bloom begins to fall off the rose of that new fitness or weight loss
plan).
Life is precious. Our time here is precious. Our bodies and our health is precious. Our spirit and our inner world, our mindset and how we live and 'see' the world
is precious.
The way I see it, 95% of the people are sleep walking through life. We are always given a choice, and as we age, as our time grows closer to the end than the
beginning, it would be wise to bring some courage and openness to our lives, and choose differently.
It's time to wake up, to the beauty and potential of Who We are and why we are here.
I know my purpose. I am very clear on it. It propels me forward each and every day. And my fitness and wellness pursuits are embedded right in the middle of it.
They have been for years.
I refuse to compromise on these factors. And I am here to support other women who are coming into the knowledge of this.
Envision your 2023 and onward. How do you want to live? How do you want to feel? Why are you here? And how can we pay it forward?
It has been an absolute pleasure to serve my women over the years in their pursuit of health and wellness, and in building a powerful inner world in which I often
hear 'I'm getting it!"
And then we get to move it forward into our lives....how beautiful is that?
Living strong, healthy, awake and energized, and knowing our place and purpose.
It simply does not get any better than this!
