“It’s easy for you, you've probably never struggled with your weight”.
I hear this a lot, and there is some truth to it.
No, I haven’t been grossly overweight, but I have been 30-ish pounds overweight in my
20’s. And while this may not sound like a lot, consider that I am only 5’2”, so it acts like 60 pounds on a normal heighted woman, right?
And while I have not struggled with years of dieting or binge eating (a few years in my 20’s, yes), I HAVE struggled just like you with out of control behaviour. Let me explain…
For many women, they struggle with emotional or stress eating, and lack of
motivation to exercise. For me, it was in the form of drug addiction, alcohol, and, well, bad boyfriends. Full stop.
And so I lost my health and my confidence. I lost Who I Was for many years.
So regardless of your ‘check out’, whether it is food, drugs, social media, botox, online shopping, excessive work….they are all dangerous to our health and well being and
take us far from Who We Are.
A check out is a check out. It is dummying down the uncomfortable feelings that rise up, from years of disassociation, a lacklustre life, stress, which causes us to not live from our center, our authenticity.
I suffered severe panic attacks for 2 years. I couldn’t drive, leave the house or work. The reason? My body was trying to release years of pent
up grief, guilt and feelings of failure from a chaotic childhood. I never really dealt with it. So I went deep into counselling for years with a gifted woman who showed me another way. I was 29. And that was when life really began for me…..
But years later, I was to hit another massive speedbump when my dear son Tristan was diagnosed with a terminal and incurable degenerative condition. It is a condition (DMD) that slowly robbed his body of
all muscle. The irony… my work was in helping women to build strong, shapely bodies, and I give birth to a child with a muscle-wasting disease.
I won’t go into the details. Many of you know my story (yes, he is still with us!), but the point of it all is that through all of the challenges, I never let go of my commitment to healthy living. Because what I knew for sure was that when life got hard, I HAD TO move my body and practice healthy
eating patterns or I simply WOULD Not SURVIVE.
When I go into the gym, I am asserting my will over the weights, and it locks me back into my power. So when I feel powerless, I lift. And I feed my cells well. I must.
And so must you.
So when I hear women say they got thrown off their healthy eating and movement plans
with a stressful life, or life challenges, I am here to teach them a sustainable way to stay on track no matter what life throws at us. It’s about uprooting old beliefs and creating fresh, empowering ones!
Self love…when was the last time you felt love for yourself? And do you really feel your are operating from your Authentic Self, or your wounded self?
And many of you might not even recognize your own authentic self, she’s been gone from your life for so long now. But the good news is you can find Her again. She’s there, waiting for you to rediscover her.
This I know for sure. I have lived through it, and am out the other side, living free, healthy and on track each and every day. And you can too. I promise.
But you must truly want to, also.
If you are struggling with your weight, your body or your health, if you are not liking this thing called ageing, know that there is another way. But it most certainly is Not found in mainstream, or in another diet, another google search, or by following that Instagram Influencer.
Today’s smart, savvy women want
different, and they are searching for it. They are bored, frustrated, longing for more. And that’s the ‘call’ that is happening in women over 40…we are being called, to do and live and think and show up differently, for Self and for others.
This is where a Beliefs DETOX is essential to removing the old debris, the self clutter, the conditioning and patterns, the rocky self esteem that many of us
have, then to replace it with a different story, one of strength, fortitude, courage and self love. From this vantage point, you are now walking and living from a different place. Those of us walking this walk are in the minority, but our community of like-minded women is growing.
Life is meant to be lived, not simply endured. I endured and struggled for years, and spent years searching
for another way. I teach how to realign body with spirit, because you simply cannot create a healthy body without a healthy mind and a fulfilled spirit.
This is what I do in my work. It is my life’s purpose. Because I know intimately what it is like to live in that other place, feeling just OK but not great, and feeling confused, and wondering if this is all there is. I wanted more, but I didn’t know how to alter it. But through trial and
error and great life challenges, I learned…I learned deeply. And so too can you.
If I can do it, you can too. To live from this authentic, grounded place within, and to rule the body through self love, and to reach our health and fitness goals feels, well, fantastic. And to keep on track no matter what life throws at us?
Priceless.
Now, you can just go back and do another google search for another diet plan, and that’s cool too. No fuss, no mess, right? This is just a trick of the psyche, telling you that you don’t really need change, it’s too much work, just keep doing what you’re doing…something will work.
Um no. It won’t. Your psyche is doing exactly what it is meant to do, keep you on the same track, with little
change, even when that track is not helping you to get healthy, or to change.

Because You Matter.
Your health matters.
Your body matters.
Living and ageing well matters.
Living strong, shapely, lean, energized and conscious, from this day forward.
