Summertime is when I often hear 'I think I'll wait till after summer to partake in a healthy living program.'
But what these women don't quite understand is, that very habit -
of bartering or waiting on the right time to commit, till after the camping or boating or traveling or just the sitting around on the deck time - is the very first habit that you first need to break to create a successful physique transformation.
And it's been there for a long time, that thinking habit, and is one of several thinking, reactive habits that is self sabotaging them at a cellular
level.
And those habits are laying deep within your nervous system, all comfy and repetitive, unconscious to the truth of you.
And how many really commit come September, when life returns to normal, the pace picks up and we are off to the races? Usually it's a good start, and it fades again....because nothing has changed in her life force. There has been
no cognitive restructuring.
I often hear women say at this time...'life is pretty busy right now, everyone's back to school and work, I'll wait until it gets less stressful.'
I even had one women, in our 30 minute conversation, push her start date from June of one year, all the way to after the New Year because she kept scratching off all the seasonal
festivities and activities that she saw as standing in her way as times she couldn;t embark on it.
I asked her if she recognized what was happening here, if she could step outside of it all....
She giggled and said yes, she could now see her pattern once I pointed it out.
She laughed some
more...
She still didn't commit. Not really. I think she got a trainer at the gym for a few days a week, but sporadically. She is still working around her busy life, 12 months later, waiting for it to ease up.
Good luck with that one. I think I'm one of the busiest people I know. It's not about the outer stuff, it's always
within....
We ALL have stuff. We all have stress. We all have money and time challenges, but the Lifestyle Athlete, the person who prioritizes her health and her body and steps into crafting a new possibility, and who stays on track for years because it is her lifestyle, is the one whose health and physique are top notch.
It never happens by accident. It takes
focus, determination, consistency and a commitment to self that spans the years.
There really is no debate. And if she falls away, she doesn't sweat it, because she always gets back to it. Because it is Who She Is.
It's not about who has the easiest life (actually, the busiest people often make the best and most consistent athletes because they have to clearly
manage their time and their commitments, they become a master at it. And fitness and wellness is right there, out in front. It's a skillset, a success attribute that they have built into their life).
Us women have many roles, but the masks or personas that we wear unconsciously - Perfectionist, Busy Bee, Fixer, Excuse Maker, Procrastinator, Queen Bee, Lone Wolf, Good Mother or Good Wife - begin living us in ways that are
unconscious and unhealthy.
We all have roles. Stories really. But when they start living us, we are living unconsciously and at the beckon call of life. Managing and steering our own life, our own desires, feeding our vision, are all necessary to build a great body and an action-oriented life.
It's not life that keeps us away from our physique goals. It's
us.
Summer is here, and my training, and my clients attention to health, the gym, their personal growth path continues on.
We stop and question our unconscious beliefs (because when we do, only then can we change them). Knowing what is holding us back (it's usually us), is not enough. We must move through the inertia. We must challenge and move through the
resistance, the patterns, the 'lack of motivation', until we create new habits, fresh and sustainable ones that create sustainable and awesome body and health results.
And the more we move into this new path, the easier it is. I rarely have to talk myself into a workout, or to stay on track with eating healthy. It's not 'what I do' anymore, it's Who I Am.
Make a
decisions today. Find that coach, that mentor to lead you there. Ensure she is living the life also. If she is, she is the best partner to get you there also.
Many talk it, few walk it, or have walked it for a lifetime, but we are out there.
And when you make that first decision, saying YES to your fitness, your health, your body transformation goals, you will
wake up the next day and you are already on a new path, a new trajectory for your body and your life.
And the nexk week, month, and year, you will have made huge changes to your psyche, your body, your belief system, living strong and lean and in the minority of people who make this life a habit - to live well, be well, look and feel amazing.
It is do-able, but
first....you must take that first step.
Because the longer you wait, the more you are feeding that very resistance energy that has had you placate your dreams and goals for too long now.
Chest and Back day today....gotta run. :)
