Yesterday I woke up to this nasty comment left on a Facebook post I did about supplements for women.
"I recall signing up for and paying for your course (printing out the exercise) - after, of course, being initially denigrated for following a vegetarian
lifestyle - waste of money...."
Huh? This just kind of came out of left field and had nothing to do with the subject (which is often the case with incensed people wanting to just vent).
So I asked for clarity under her comment....did we have a coaching call? I don't 'sell' programs or products, so perhaps you have me mixed up
with someone else..?
No answer.
But I think I remember doing a complimentary Breakthrough call with her...a few years ago perhaps...
At first I was going to delete the comment...it was seen by quite a few people...and then I thought no...let it
sit there. I'm good. I know who I am. My intentions are true.
Somehow I triggered her, who knows why?
It comes with the territory, and I've learned to ride the waves.
Years ago, I would have gone after her. I take my work very seriously, and I
don't take lightly to off-the-cuff comments in a public forum meant to degrade me....who does that? But I slept on it. Best advice I would offer anyone who is being maligned...
This lady needs to look within...and decide what about me or my posts trigger her. That's on her.
And so goes the world of social
media.
If you're on it, and you have a strong opinion, and you're not afraid to speak your truth...
If you're trying to cut through the mountain of false info out there regarding women struggling to getting lean, strong and age well, well, you're gonna get push back.
Guaranteed.
The clients I work with know that I won't tell them what they want to hear, I will tell them what they need to hear, but always with the best of intentions: to get them into living and doing for their bodies and health in the best way possible, with self love and attention to the details.
And when you're working with
something as intimate as the body and as emotionally charged as food (yes, we can get very charged up about our food, especially around meat versus non meat styles of eating), you're going to rub up against some defensiveness.
Plain and simple.
I'm here to educate and elevate women out of their body-shame, to help them learn the real
deal, trash the trends, to get them living in a strong, beautiful body they can be proud of at 40, 50, 60+. This is always my focus.
I can only think that I was leery of her vegetarianism NOT because she was a vegetarian (I don't care how my women eat, I have vegans to carnivores and everything in between), but what matters is the PROTEIN you are getting...and with vegetarians, it can be
tricky.
This is just something I've witnessed for decades, so I have to check in with their food intake and 'add up' how much protein they are eating.
If I recall correctly, this lady also had a weight problem, and she was doing cardio and moved to a vegetarian lifestyle, so yes, in this scenario I would have suggested that she up
her protein, nix the cardio and move into more consistent weight training.
That's the law of creating strong biochemistry. It's not right or wrong, it just is.
And profile pictures tell a lot of the story....hmm....yes, I see her....
As the old saying goes,
"Success leaves clues'" and many women are not training with the right intensity, and/or with the right programming to achieve the results she wants.
And knowing how to eat to support your goals with the 4 directives - # of meals, timing, portions and macro's - is vitally important, and moreso as we age.
We certainly live
in interesting times...
Peace out!
