I was at the gym this past weekend and viewed a woman working the treadmill, and every few seconds, she would do a wide kick to the side….
I think I know what she was aiming for (glute
toning), but it’s ineffective and wastes precious energy that could be used towards truly shape those glutes effectively!
See, any form of cardio will not increase your muscle definition.
Cardio works for general weight loss (when done at the appropriate times and in the appropriate amounts), but if done in excess, or if it’s your only health plan strategy, it will pull
from muscle stores, NOT fat stores.
Many women are still living in the ‘cardio is the silver bullet’ way of thinking but this is untrue. Even worse…many women KNOW cardio isn’t going to reshape their bodies or up their fat burning, but they’re on automatic replay. They just can’t give up the habit.
And even if cardio did work in your 20’s and 30’s, it’s a new day when you
hit 40, 50+. What worked then won’t work now, and a new strategy is required.
Time to let go of the old habits, like cardio, that just keep you in a ‘loop’ of seeing no real results, and keeps you further away from your physique goals.
