UGH!!
A friend sent me a TikTok video on the weekend.....
Now I’ve never been on TikTok, and I don’t frequent it much.
OK, not at all, to be frank.
Firstly, I’m so busy with my coaching business.
Second, I choose what I do on my spare time very wisely (like work my property, hang with my family, you know, healthy real things).
So I admit it, I’m late to the TikTok party BUT…..now I see what us ‘real’ coaches are up
against, and now I also see the source of many of the myths and stupidity that some women are believing.
And I won't be back any time soon to TT.
No wonder women are MORE confused about how to exercise, what to eat and how to get lean in a healthy, sustainable way. By the time they reach me, many of them are totally frustrated, in info overload and have been trying
some ridiculous things that are leading them further from their goals..
So here's some stupid things I witnessed in just 1 hour of curious viewing on TikTok….
How to ‘snatch’ your waist with this ONE waist trimming move (snatch is part of the new lingo apparently…and yeah, spot reducing is NOT possible...does this
Influencer not know this??).
If you’re a runner, you’re raising cortisol which will cause you to GAIN fat (um, I dunno about you, but most runners actually lose weight…AND where is the lab work to prove this cortisol-dump is happening?)
Side note here: Cortisol, according to Influencers, is the real reason you can't lose weight...did y'all know
that? (A few years ago it was 'leptin resistance'...remember that one?)
Carbs are making you fat (been there, done that myth busting 15 years ago with Atkins, but it's STILL on the myth circuit!!)
To lose weight, eat MORE… (myth busted about a million years ago).
And then our lovely celebrities...
Gweneth Paltro’s now trending ‘wellness routine’ is merely disordered eating. In my view, she does not look healthy, and her constant daily focus on ‘detoxing’ is in and of itself disordered thinking (she was doing an introvenous solution while being interviewed....).
VShred, with their pretty boy, Vincent Sant, 30, fitness model and promoter, helps you find your ‘Somatotype’ to dial in your weight loss results FAST (somatotype theory was created in 1940 by a psychologist...note the word THEORY here...).
Influencers that don’t follow the rules of proper exercise execution and muscle-building wisdom (where were these people certified? Oh
right…they weren’t)…and they simply string a bunch of cool moves together, add some music and cool video angles and presto!
The basics of food, weight loss, metabolism and muscle building remain the cornerstone of physique success. Full stop. I have lived it and taught it for 40 years and it's NOT complicated. Nor is it sexy.
Time to return to the basics, I
say...(or hopefully, you have never strayed).
I will continue to teach and preach the real deal of healthy living, ageing, weight loss even when it doesn't seem sexy.
In a nutshell...it works.
It is the ONLY thing that works...day in day out consistency, keeping it simple and basic.
No really...there's nothing new under the Healthy Living Sun.
