I spoke with a woman last year who dieted and lost 100 pounds FIVE times over!
Yep. She lost 500 pounds over the last 10 years.
Can you imagine the work and
commitment it took to lose that much weight.?
But she didn't see herself as commited or capable at all, in fact, she was deep in shame around it all.
That was the saddest part...she had lost all hope but when I explained to her that she didn't have a weight loss issue, she had a weight sustainability issue, she went
quiet.
I explained that it was because nothing changed on the inside, and there were fear factors at work that had her resort back into old habits that let the weight slowly creep back on. That was it.
Work from the inside out versus the outside in, and you are half way there.
"Well, I've tried to movitate myself, but it just wears off."
Self motivation is not the key, unfortunately. It requires a shift in her brain's thinking habits...this is where we need to work on Self Identity, crafting a New Way, a fresh way, of seeing ourselves, and the possibilities that lay ahead.
I had no
doubt that she could lose the weight again, but without proper coaching and accountability, and the courage to use those tools, she would rebound again.
Then I asked her what her hubby thought....'He told me not to bother with another weight loss plan...and to save my money."
And to that note, she left the
call.
Sad, but true.
I think of her often, and wonder where her life took her from that point forward....
