It's an interesting paradigm shift...looking at weight loss, NOT from the food our calories perspective, but the mindset perspective.
I call this the inside / out approach, versus the outside in
approach.
This is the subtle but powerful, life changing shift in perspective that is imperative if women want to lose weight with ease, AND keep it off.
See, everything starts with what you THINK it's all about. And in our culture, we're focused on diets, trendy eating, macros, food apps and all the little tricks and trinkets in
between.
But in reality, it's never about the food.
This is where my women learn to 'let food be food again'.
We give it way too much power...
Here's a trick if you want to
help loosen the obsession with food....
Place that bag of chips or that chocolate bar of that ice cream on your side table at night..and go to bed (OK, ice cream might be a bit messy!).
Then wake up the next morning...and notice that you resisted that treat by your bedside table...it held no power over
you.
It's just a bag of chips, or chocolate bar...nothing more. It has no saying over your life...it is simply food.
The meaning you put on it is all from your head, your imagination.
See, those of us that have learned to let food be food again, well, we
don't think about it that much.
We don't ponder it, fuss over it, obsess over it.
We get on with life.
It sounds easy, or perhaps a little bit arrogant, but food has NO hold over you really...you are putting way too much emphasis on it as something that
runs your life.
I even had one client do this exercise and she said she actually 'spoke' to her chocolate bar...told it to get back in its rightful place...over and over again. She told it she would no longer be a prisoner to its unseen power, which wasn't power at all. She began to notice the 'story' she had made up in her head over it all.
Perspective...
Anyway, just wanted to share this little exercise with you.
Maybe try it tonight, and see if you can put food back in its rightful place...of just being food again.
Peace
out.
