I had a lovely call last week with a woman who shared her diet history with me.
She had been a dieter since she was 12.
Yep, you read that right. 12 years old, when her mother first put her on her first ever diet.
She tried every diet, some worked for awhile, but then BAM! the weight would come back on. The same unwanted 50 pounds came and went a total of 20-ish times, she figured.
This dear woman was unconsciously repeating the patterns of her past because her psyche was running the show.
She KNEW better intellecutally, but that's not what runs the show here.
And if you don't override the past and RE-WIRE your brain, you are doomed to repeat the past. Always.
That's why I crafted my unique Beliefs Detox: Getting the Junk Out exercise when women come work with me. Because unless we uproot the self limiting beliefs, they keep running the show.
Like with this woman, 50 years later (she's 62) and while she knows that dieting, cutting, restricting, cardio-ing isn't the way to permanent weight loss, she instinctively goes back to it year after year....
It's her 'normal', her comfort zone.
