Good morning . Brrr....it's cold where I am!
This morning, I bundled up to take my doggies for their usual morning walk (it's -5 here!). (That's my girl Daisy, one of three Goldens, waiting to go for her morning walk).
I usually go 'to the bridge and back', which takes about an hour.
Yesterday, I ran into a neighbour on the walk who asked, "How many steps is it to the bridge and back?"
'How many steps? Well, I dunno," I said. "I don't count steps."
She seemed dumbfounded.
"You don't count steps? Why not? Every fitness professional knows it's the 10,000 step rule these days."
"Oh?" I replied. "Well, I guess I'm the odd one in the crowd."
I've never follow trends. They bore me.
I find them restrictive.
And I don't like following the crowd. I'm all about freedom to be, I guess, (I've always been a tad rebellious).
And that goes along with counting other things, like calories, macros, rest time between lifts, etc etc. Everyone is after perfection. A guarantee. Especially in health and wellness.
Yes, you need to learn what these variables are...calories, macro percentages (but LOOSE
percentages, you do NOT need hard exact numbers) but then, once you get the basics, you can let the number crunching go.
For me and my clients, it's about learning to live intuitively, in all aspects. We have become sooo divorced from Self and our own intuition. We've lost trust in
ourselves.
I simply do NOT want to live in a world of numbers. For me, it takes the joy out of everything, and puts me into a kind of robotic-like state (I am a borderline perfectionist! LOL! And it feeds that persona too much for my liking!).
Coaches call it "creating an illusion of control.' And this feeds that neurosis-like state of 'gotta be perfect or I'm not good enough'.
So I
walk...without counting. Freedom and ease is how I want to live around everything, my food, exercise, lifestyle...and walking...
Peace out! - Karen
PS: My latest Youtube video - The Spiral of Healthy Ageing - offers a fresh, empowering perspective on the ageing process, something I taught myself many moons ago.
Enjoy!
