Frozen Shoulder...it's a thing, yes.
But what's happening is NOW they are calling it Meno Shoulder, meaning, menopause is causing it.
Without going into the science (and there
is NO science to date that links the two anyway), shoulder stuff happens...yes.
And yes there are changes in our tendons, ligaments, inflammatory responses etc that happen with age. And yes, loss of estrogen can cause some of these also.
But to draw a direct line from frozen shoulder to menopause as the cause is incorrect, dangerous and just out right
wrong.
I commented in this manner in a popular Women and Weights Facebook page, and once again, I got lambasted.
It's ok. 'Show me the science' was my retort, and no one did.
Because it's not there.
And the danger is that
NOW we will have every marketing company coming out with another great anti-meno 'fix' to counterract our shoulder issues, which for the most part are lifestyle related - training (over and under training), poor nutrition (for decades, let's face it, our tendons and ligaments need proper nourishment!), stress, poor training, etc etc.
And yes, having shoulder aches and pain does happen (I get cortisone shots myself every 4
months in my left shoulder...is it because I'm in menopause? NO! It's because of...who knows? Sporadic gardening, years of walking doggies that pull and pulll, being 64 years old...things wear out!!
Just be careful out there. 'Question everything' is my motto. And if it ruffles feathers, oh well.
SOMEONE has to call this BS out.
Might as well be me!
XO!
