Nothing can ever prepare you...
When my son was 5, he was diagnosed with Muscular Dystophy (it was on this trip, to California in 2000, and he was still walking).
The fear, anger, sadness flooded my body, I was confused, my brain was on
fire, and my heart was broken.
From then on, it would be a slow decline of all function.
How did I get through?
Lots of prayer, tears, counselling and training.
Yes, training. And I HAD to manage my food still.
I was at the top of my game, winning shows and eating and training superbly, but even that couldn't save me from the downhill slam into sickness.
For years, I would go from doctor to doctor, trying to find felief from the headaches, pain, dysfunction, immune dysruptions...
The anxiety and depression, and manic thinking.
So many women lose themselves when crisis hits, and I get it. I couldn't train either, because my body wouldn't let me.
But day after day, I would go into the gym and just 'be'....just sit, maybe stretch a little, cry a lot and wonder where our world had ended up, how me and my boy would make ti through this Dark Night of the Soul.
But
I did. We did. But it took a shift in my meaning of things, and how I was looking at my world, life, even how I was looking at fitness.
So when I work with women who feel lost in stress, challenge, and they feel stuck in a body they no longer recognize, we look beyond the present, and get a bigger view of their life - because where we are today is a result of where we've been living, what is in our way, how we can shift our
narrative.
Because what I know for sure is that Life doesn't happen TO us, it happens FOR us, and I'm living proof of it. But I had to learn to shift my physical and mental world in order to live from a deeper, more meaningful place. One that has my son and I, our family, living from a place of peace and ease...
This weekend, we'll be talking about this, and more in my new 10-week Spring Training and Nutrition Program, because women MUST be coached at a deeper level, at a level that 'sees' them, and lifts the self sabotage and limiting beliefs, out of the way. Replacing the 'old', tired and stressful stories with new ones, and creating a fresh start from this point forward.
And THAT is how we ultimately build health and wellness, leanness and strength and vitality, in the 40+ woman. We tend to all aspects of Her - physical, nutritional, mindfulness.
It is how we can re-define ageing, and successfully manage all that us women must handle in this complex and beautiful world of ours.
We have a small group of just 7 women in total, which makes for a very intimate setting, which often makes for a great experience because you have more time and energy to serve and support the group.
Join us. We're still taking sign up...link is in the footnote.
