A few weeks ago, I decided to take time off from lifting...totally.
I've had a few nagging injuries and also limitations that I've learned to live with...wonky shoulder, lower back issues...ugh!
Sometimes that's life,
and it was actually hard for me to take the time off mentally. You know that fear...., 'will I lose my gains?'
Well I did....kind of. I certainly lost strength, AND size. And that's how FAST we can lose our muscle at this age, unless we are actively strength training to keep it on.
It only take 3-4x a week, 30-40 minutes of structured weight training to keep the bod
shapely and happy!
So I'm not too worried about the mini loss to my physique, because I know I needed it AND I know it will come back fairly fast. So I'm starting back slowly...with the TRX.
Muscle memory baby....yes, it's a thing.
So if you're still on the fence about training, just step in.
Research shows that we lose 5-10% of our muscle nearing the end of 40, and we can lose up to 30% of it after 50.
And this goes for our precious bone too. We don't want our bones to turn to chalk.
Ageing is a verb, action oriented word.
So what action
are you taking in your life to age well, strong, independent and healthy?
XO!
