She proudly showed her plate of meat on the internet. And all I could think about was...where's the veggies! I felt full and, well, oily from looking at it!
She boasted that she already lost 13 pounds and that this new way of eating was the key...
Um, no. Hate to disappoint. So I hit the keyboard with my thoughts...and yes, I
got the push back.
I'm used to it. Especially today...
Her reason for weight loss was due to one of two things...
Calorie deficit and/or more movement.
See, biologically, we're all the same. But so many women are stuck in
the 60's diet mentality. And they think their body is different, they've tried everything, it's age, hormones, etc etc.
Try this, not that. Keto, low carb, raw food, vegan, carnivore.
Now there's the Lion diet and Primal diet...seriously....!
And us (experienced) health coaches just
shake our heads. Some jump on board and go alongside these trends, but I say it's because they're young coaches (young in experience, not necessarily in years) and they think they 'should' jump on board because the majority is onto something..
I always say 'if the majority is doing it, it's a sure-fire reason to NOT do it. Full stop.'
So how do we stop
it?
By recognizing that it is not our BODY that isn't complying, it's our BRAIN.
I can write the perfect food plan built around a woman's age, experience, goals, lifestyle and food preferences, but sadly, 90% lose their way.
Because it's NOT about the food
plan!
That's why I coach deeper, and not only do my women lose the excess weight, thy keep it off. And they gain valuable mindset tools and reshaped conditioning patterns to enhance ALL parts of their life - relationship, money, career...'cause that's what mindset and mindfulness is all about.
See, all patterns and all CHANGE draws from
the same well.....YOU! Your inner landscape. THAT"S the bedrock of it all.
When we start from THIS place, I then throw in an individualized food plan and movement strategy, and voila! It STICKS. Because the Foundational stuff is in place now...
There are trainers and nutritionists and there are seasoned Coaches...they are very different species.
I prefer coaching. Deep, sustainable, freeing and carries momentum and joy through all parts of their life.
And they have a healthy relationship with food, their body is strong and lean(er) and they live in peace, being present and living with awareness and wisdom.
It's not hard...its different, is all!
