QUESTION: Can HRT help me to gain back nice, shapely muscle? And will it help me to lose some fat?
No, the research is solid on this...HRT can't develop lean mass
(muscle)...that's still in the food and weight training. It is not a body recompositioning tool...again, that's the food and training.
HRT can slow the muscle loss maybe, but the best course of action is still a proper training and food strategy.
Don't over-cardio or over-diet or over-fast...these will kill your gains. Or thwart any new objectives to health and shape
and recovery. They will work against the ageing female body.
Testosterone is NOT a muscle builder (unless you inject high amounts...not recommended), and while it can possibly help 'save' muscle and bone wasting with age, the food, training and stress relief are still the foundational parts.
The reason women report that hrt 'turned the tide' for them and they lost
bodyfat and gained muscle is because they felt better, their recovery was better, life looked brighter, they had energy to exercise.
They moved more. Were less depressed, had a healthier relationship with food....soo many unconscious variables that happen all at once. But Hrt isn't for everyone.
And not everyone can (or wants to) take HRT. And remember, both
synthetic and bio identical HRT are compounded...when they promote Bio identical as being more 'natural', it's actually a falsehood. Both are made in a lab. Different chemical structures, of course.
Many of my women want to choose another alternative, so Hormone Coach Kelly Nolan and I work together to offer women an herbal and tincture strategy to help manage hormonal symptoms.
