Can You Receive?
When it comes to Christmas, we always espouse the need for giving.
Yes, giving is highly recommended, and no where is it more necessary than in today's love-starved world.
But what about receiving? Is it hard for you to receive? Why? Do you feel undeserving? Awkward? Are you the kind of person that deflects even compliments?
Let's face it. At Christmas time, it's so easy for women to get caught up in all that we have to do...baking, shopping, wrapping, decorating, getting the Xmas cards out...all in a matter of a few weeks, while still trying to work and maintain the household as usual. ....whew!
Last year, I got so worn out, I made a truce with myself....I decided to not throw a Xmas drop-in party, and I did the unthinkable...I never did any Xmas cards.
Yep, that's right. I did the unpardonable...and you know what? Hardly anyone noticed! No one to this day has ever mentioned it. And all these years I thought I would be a terrible person / mother / daughter if I didn't. But all was forgiven! Funny thing was, I think I was the only one keeping score!
If you think someone else is keeping that score, let it go. Know that you're not defined by how many parties you hold, or how many cards you get out.
This Christmas, enjoy giving, but enjoy receiving too...in fact, when you go out shopping, buy yourself a little something. Show yourself how much you mean to YOU! Love yourself and be gentle with yourself.
And just last week, I saw a cool pair of black leather boots that would look just awesome on me....! |

Training Tip: Be Small & fit, not Small & fat |

Many women still fall into the myth that weight training will bulk you up! Boy, they're just wasting precious time that could be used to create an awesome, tight and toned physique!
Take a look at the picture below. The woman on the left lost the weight by doing a high rep, low calorie diet and no weight training, and the one on the right did it through lifting weights 4 times a week, heavier weights and lower reps, and ample calories.
By the way...it's the same gal, before and after! That's right. Same size but totally different shape and tone.... which would you rather be?

| spiritual stuff: Change hurts...sometimes |

So you've decided you want to take your life in a new direction, you grab your talisman and sit in your lotus position and start focusing on what you want to create....ooommmmmmm.
Good. You're on the right track. Meditating (quiet focus, whatever you call it) is necessary to create change in your life. It steers the boat, so to speak. But here's the deal..the greater the shift, or the bigger the prize, the more turmoil may be created in order to bring it into fruition.
About 3 months ago, I started focusing on wanting to take my work to the next level, so I went into my room every morning and began my daily meditation practice...ooommmm. About one month into it, all hell broke loose! My web site crashed, Edge Protein folded, we had to purchase a piece of medical equipment for our son ($35,000!) and my hubby's laptop blew up ....
Hmm..what's going on? Then I got it - I asked for it. Yes, in order for me to move ahead in my goals, I had to make room for bigger stuff...and that meant a re-gigging of sorts, a culling, a house-cleaning....oh boy!
If you're asking the Universe for help, the Universe has to cut through the fabric of our earthly ways to deliver...the bigger the request, the greater the upheavel. So when things get rough, know that your prayers are indeed being answered!
Living a bigger life requires you take responsibility for the changes you must undergo. If you want a big life, be prepared for big changes...and trust in the process. See you on the other side! |

Being able to help other women acheive their goals is the best feeling in the world, and this month I graduated 15 women from ...
One of my former Challenger gals, Chelsea Comber (left) enjoyed the Challenge so much, she kept up the training and 16 months later entered her first Figure Competition and came in 6th! Now she's enjoying eating again, and spending time with her hubby and three children. I'll be doing an interview with Chelsea in a few weeks, so stay tuned!

If you're starting on a new weight training regime, here's a tip - put away the scale and pull out your bodyfat machine!
Here's the deal - the scale can tell you how mush mass you ahve, but not how healthy (or unhealthy) it is. Take a look at the two women below - both size 2 women, but the one on the left is over 25% bodyfat, and the one on the right is around 18%. And the proof is in the pudding (or the tone!).
Aim to train to get your bodyfat down, not your weight. Weight is irrelevant...better yet, when in doubt, strip off your clothes and have a look - you'll soon see that size really doesn't matter, it's the type of size you have!
