Being brave....

I am so brave.

I was thinking about this today, as I ready to board a flight to Alberta for holidays on Saturday.

See, I HATE flying. Why? I dunno. I used to love it, But I white-knuckle it the whole way through. My hubby always used to say that when we went on vacation, he didn't know until the last minute if he was going alone!

Being brave is about rising up after the fall. It's about walking through, not around, situations or challenges. We're chatting about this in our monthly Warrior Woman Group Coaching program on Facebook, and I can't wait to continue the conversation.

I always say, that to take on a healthy lifestyle program is very brave indeed. You are committing to changing things, walking into the unknown, and owning your 'stuff', really. In fact, as women start to get fit and strong, shapely in places where they never dreamed of, things within the 'inner' realm start to untangle too. I guess they want to get healthy too.

And with all the things i have to deal with on a daily basis with my special needs boy, I have learned to walk with 'arms wide open' and to step into the abyss, so to speak. I have to walk through the heart of illness, degeneration, fear and sadness that can envelope my son and me easily on a daily basis. And as I work with women in their fitness, I see this happening in their lives too. As a coach, you can get pretty close to the bone with some clients, and while some coaches say that this is 'unprofessional' and not a coaches role, I am a woman, a kindred spirit, a mother, first. I think that's what makes me a better coach too.

So if you are challenged or feeling spent, lost or unsure, just know that you are not alone. There are millions of us out there, and we're all in this together. Being brave and stepping into the challenge - whether it's a simply flight to another destination, or whether you are dealing with a serious situation - a health crisis, a family member in need - it's all the same thing, just in varying amounts. And each situation is a chance for you to build in confidence, self love, forgiveness and strength.

'The only way out is through,' as they say. So walk into the sharp points, so you can inspect, question, and learn, and grow into a greater, grander version of yourself.
