She covered her eyes so she wouldn't see the number on the scale...how sad!

Hey ,

Several years ago, I ran a 6 week program at the local Rec Center, and at the start and end, we always do weight and measurements.

On this day, one client hopped on the scale, put her hands over her eyes and proclaimed, "I don't want to know the number."

OK, I thought. Never had this before, but I went with it. I recorded her weight (it was 206 lbs).

We went about our training and nutrition lessons for the 6 week course. She showed for every class, and appeared diligent in her training.

Then the final day came, and it was weight in time...again, she stepped on the scale and covered her eyes. "I don't want to know," she said. "Ever?," I asked. "Nope," was all she said.

Her weight that day: 206 lbs.

What was going on here? I don't really know. Was it simply a state of denial, or was there something else going on?  I don't know. She never talked about it, but my guess is that she has carried this mindset for a very long time. She seemed well tuned to disappointment, shame, guilt.

Does anyone deserve to live like this? Does anyone want to? How sad.

What we do as women is crazy sometimes....we live without any reins for weeks, months or years (likely because what we were doing training and eating wise wasn't working, so what's the point?) and then decide enough is enough. Then we fail (again), and the cycle continues.

And with continued stop-start stuff, calorie restriction and purging, the metabolism most certainly gets messed up, and the body now HOARDS its fat stores, and it makes it harder to make any progress in any way.

I see this all the time. That's why we address this, and so much more, in my Best Shape Challenge. Because I don't want to witness another woman suffer in this way.

Love yourself into health, i always say. It's the ONLY way to do this journey. I'll show you how...
