A Code of Silence Still exists....

Funny, after all these years, women still aren't talking about the most obvious of all transitions....MENOPAUSE!

See, when I ask my mom, it's 'oh, it was no big deal'. My grandma, well, we didn't even talk about it (I probably wasn't interested at my young age, and likely thought it wouldn't affect me!). My sister, just a few grumblings about feeling the heat, and that was it.

So this week, I broached the subject with my gym gals...soooo many offerings, so many perspectives, so many approaches, so many more questions.

Why don't we talk about this sooner? I think that women are still of the mindset that we are supposed to suffer in silence. Be stoic. Stay strong.

Or, that they are nervous about talking about their approach because it may be frowned upon, OR (what I think): they do what their doctors tell them to do. Simple.

So this month, we are opening up the conversation, as we interview three specialists in hormone balancing - an herbalist, a Dr. of Naturopathy, and an endocrine specialist in bio identicals. And the response, input and 'aha' moments are interesting..

If you are suffering in silence, or confused or wondering, turn to your fellow woman friend and ask, just ask, how she approaches this moment. Let's open the conversation up, so women can feel comfortable and become knowledgeable in the options available to them. Menopause should be a time of celebration, not a sweaty, emotional transition toward older age. No way! Not for us ladies!

Members, our second interview is up NOW! Join the conversation!
