Why do YOU overeat?

Why do YOU overeat?

Or let me rephrase that...why do you take on yet another diet: you lose the weight, gain it all back again, or moreso....year after year after year? Where do you lose your hold on things? Where is your 'happy place'?

What if I told you it was less about a lack of motivation or control, and more about what lies deeper..

Boredom. Sadness. Anger. Fear of failure. Childhood habits ('gotta clean your plate'). Others' expectations (don't be thinner / richer / prettier...you'll upset the family order, get more attention, challenge other family members). Or maybe the media dictates what and how you should look. Still hanging around Pinterest? Collecting all the latest workouts and diet plans on your Pinterest board?

As mature women, we have gone far away from food's intended role as both pleasure, fuel and bringing community together (picture that woman in her car, eating from her Tupperware....is she getting any of those three necessary elements? Maybe fuel, but certainly not pleasure and community. Tupperware queens, take note!)

Eating needs to encompass all three aspects, to function as, well, food, NOT a replacement for something missing in your life, or not as a way to stringently self regulate, and to beat oneself up!

This month, in my Warrior Woman Group, we chat with Registered Dietician Kristen Yarker about her long and successful career helping women to get real with their eating, and to turn it from a push / pull affair, with food, and bring it back to a pleasurable, life sustaining act! And when that shift occurs, the bingeing stops, the desire to overeat ends, the 'reaching for another diet plan' ends, and so too does the yo yo weight issues.

It's our 3-part audio series - How to Reset your eating for Real Weight Loss and Physique Changes in 2017! Kristen shares her tips and tidbits with us all, to shed light on the darker parts, and help us to understand where our role lays in this whole food thing, and to bring us back to the love of food! It's all part of our Fresh Starts 2017 theme for us Warrior Women!

Let's (finally) learn, as mature women, to use, and enjoy food as it was meant to be. Not too much, not too little, with respect, awareness, consistency, attention and of course, pleasure! Let's find your 'happy place', your 'happy weight', somewhere you can attain and remain, for life! Enough of the yo yo stuff!
