I'm often asked how I stay lean at my age. Is it hard? Do I stay hungry? Is there a certain way I eat? No, No and yes...kind of...
It's simple really. I have two rules - whatever I do, MUST be 1) sustainable for life, and 2) it MUST feed
metabolism. I dont' cut calories (I do watch them), I don't do cardio (I do MET) and I do refeeds once a week. (I cover all of this on my
10-week Challenge, by the way!)
As a 57 year old woman, I have learned to feed my metabolism and strengthen
it by eating 4-5 times a day. I eat carbs (OH NO!), and I stay at 17% bodyfat year round. I train with weights 4-5 times a day, I never step foot on a cardio machine, and I rarely feel hungry. I LOVE how I eat, and I eat meat, dairy, fruit, carbs, and even a wee bit of wine!
With 4 decades in the business, I've learned (finally!) how to 'reset' my set point to a place where my body now WANTS to
stay lean(er) than in my 20's and 30's because I have TAUGHT it this way, through consistency and listening to my biofeedback. My digestion is rock solid, and my hormones are balanced. How I eat is easy, very enjoyable, and I refeed once in awhile, (these are NOT cheat meals, those are simply an over indulgence).
So the secret to getting lean and staying there is NOT another labeled eating
plan. I am consistent in all things, I've turned my daily habits into a healthy, strong, lean living lifestyle, and I've done so for many, many years. It's quite easy, now! And I can show YOU how it's done!
Life, and leanness, is NOT supposed to be complicated. And it's not to be found 'out there' in the multitude of web sites and FB eating groups. (The KETO group, at last count, had
over 123,000 members.! That's a LOT of mis-directed people!).
