I'm often asked what kind of eating I subscribe to.
Am I Keto? Paleo? Do I support low carb? How about vegan? IIFYM? Intermittent fasting? (I don't often get Zoners or Mediterraneans anymore...seems these diets are done...for now.)
No, no and no.
I eat my way, free, without a label, and my clients do so too. We eat with food freedom, with pleasure, a modium of discipline (we need this in every aspect of our life) and with variety. We don't scour the internet. We don;t join Keto facebook groups, and we don't think that butter in your coffee is that great, unless of course you've always done it that way.
Human nature has two kinds of people, I find:
those that want to follow a path where there are lots of people doing the same thing (safety in numbers, keeping up with the Jones', whatever you want to call it) and those who are free range chickens, as I call it, having come to learn what they like, what their bodies like, and they really arent; swayed by hype or the majority.
The first group is very hard to coach, because they are set in their ways, and often try to convince YOU that
this-or-that style of eating is the best. But they will jump onto the train leaving the station, because soon their train will stop taking them anywhere. It's like they were born with a food app in their hand.
The 'free' group, as I call it, are fun, easy going, but they manage their own style, because they have been at it awhile, and, well, THEY run the show. Not marketers, bodybuilding.com, T Nation, an app, or their friend's latest
weight loss diet. Their counsel is THEMSELVES, and they like it that way.
I am correlating a list of all 10 popular eating styles and will be putting a short video out to my Warrior Women to consider the pro's and con's of each, what they offer, and what the research REALLY says. And we test drive every new eating style with two parameters: 1) does it build metabolic health, and 2) is it sustainable for life.
In most cases, the answer is simply no.
