How do you deal with stress?
We all have our 'outs'....food, wine, social media, shopping...
But when that 'out' becomes bigger, it an overshadow our lives.
I see alot of women 'check out' with food, a common distractor.
We use it as a 'reward' after a long day. Or as a fill in when we are bored. Or worse yet, we use food to feel good, because after all, the sensory rewards are instantaneous.
I used to be one of those girls, in my 20's, for sure. Until I redefined my goals and what I wanted for my body, and my life.
It didn't happen overnight. I had a lot of slip ups. A LOT! But eventually, the 'good habits' side won out, simply through me going back in and trying again, asserting myself again.
See, there is no failure, only 'failing forward'. Because that is how you learn.
"A new habit takes 21 days to instill in your brain'. Hogwash. I've seen women circle the drain for YEARS. So what's going on?
A belief system that is lying deep inside, which we often cover with 'that's just the way I am.' Or "I have no willpower'. Or "It works for awhile, and then it all falls away."
It's not your fault. You don't know what you don't know. You're not an expert in metabolism, or cognitive restructuring, or in a massive life reset, right?
It takes time, leadership and commitment, and the proper strategy, is all. Anyone can do it. You can too. You just need to stop trying harder and try differently.
Find a long term program with tons of support and a great community, run by a woman who has walked the walk and is where you want to be, because she most certainly knows the way.
So stop beating yourself up. If you knew how to fix it by now, you would have, right? No one wants to live with a start over evry few months. No woman wants to continue to circle the drain year after year, hoping the next diet, the next kick-ass workout program or the next food app will solve it for her.
It won't. Because the answer isn't 'out there'.
It's inside.
And that's the good news!
Life is stressful. And that likely won't ver change, either. But with the perfect eating plan and exercise program, you can maneuver around the stressful times easily, and they won't knock you down or steal your motivation ever again. That's called re-wiring our brains, ladies!
