Problem is, she often adds on another 10-25% more pounds than where she sat pre-diet!
This is where we see that ‘set point’ going up year after year….because when we lose, and gain, and lose and gain, the body adds on extra ‘padding’ every time because it is trying to protect you!
But it feels like our bodies are wonky, and simply not working properly.
When in fact, it's working just fine.
It's doing exactly what you are asking it to do!
Yes…by adding more weight above your original start weight, when the diet ceases!
This is THE DIET TRAP!!
There are millions of women right now feeling lousy about their bodies, and disappointed that another diet attempt, and another year, is squeaking by…without any results.
They're disappointed they didn't achieve their health goal and want to fix it.
They fall into the trap of thinking it has to be hard to lose the weight, when in fact, it’s supposed to be easy.
Read that again...weight loss CAN be easy!
Problem is, women are circling the drain, coming back to another diet (different name, same useless approach) in hopes that THIS time it's going to work.
It may for awhile…and then woosh!
All the weight comes back on.
And your confidence and excitement go out the window.
See, you can’t lose weight permanently with diet and exercise alone. That’s a fact. The statistics reflect it.
You gotta change your thinking to change your habits. It's re-setting the internal circuitry, our brains, our thoughts, and we re-set the compass to SUCCESS strategy.
It’s not hard. You’ve just never been taught it before. Because most coaches and trainers don’t teach it.
They don’t know this stuff (it's NOT motivation). Probably because they haven't been certified in it. And they likely aren’t challenged with their weight like the majority is. They just do it effortlessly because they already have their circuitry dialed into it. It’s ‘natural’ for them. It’s how they are hardwired.
But when you get a coach that 'gets you', and that has suffered through what most women have suffered through, and had to change her OWN circuitry, create fresh thought patterns in her brain, THAT'S the missing link!
And that's where I come in!
I spent many years suffering through trying to figure out proper eating, losing weight and keeping it off.
A lot of what I learned over the years was when I did competitions. And I had to learn to do things the right way (most competitors PILE the weight on afterward!).
My first two shows were when I was 29…losing close to 40 pounds…then woosh! In 2 weeks I gained back 10 pounds…and it kept adding up.
Until I was a hefty 40 pounds above my usual weight…I was now 10 pounds above where my weight used to sit!
That was when I figured if I was going to keep competing, I had to figure things out.
And after a few more shows, I GOT it! I learned to manage and actually BUILD my metabolism while I was cutting for show, and I would only rebound by a healthy 6 – 8 pounds.
See, I would never recommend anyone do a show it 'get in shape'. Because it's like the most stringent diet ever, and it can mess up your metabolism BIG time, if you don't do it right.
But after several years, I mastered my metabolism, figured out my macro’s (they are the same today as they were back then, no need to fiddle endlessly), timing and portions, and I learned how to keep my biochemistry in homeostasis (that means balance) even through the rigors of competition.
And at my last show, at 53 years young (above), I actually had my period the day of the show, a clear sign that my metabolism and hormones were in top shape and still working beautifully! And I was able to lose that excess weight without any crazy stuff...just applying my 'recipe' to get lean to my training and food (and mindset, of course).
Today, my metabolism is strong and resilient, and my eating is simple, with structure and proper nourishment for my age, activity and goals. And living in a lean, strong, shapely body has became my norm.
Oh, and by the way, no I am not naturally lean…just look to my mama! (Sorry mom, but genetics don’t lie)! I have an average metabolism, just like you (most women think theirs is very slow, but it’s really because we all think we should lose weight faster! Yours is probably average too, but it’s likely ‘softened’ over the years with diets and poor exercise choices. Average is good enough, when its working properly!).
And when you get everything figured out, you STOP obsessing about food all the time, and your ideal body becomes your new normal, everything just flows. It’s effortless, really. And crafting a healthy, strong, shapely body SHOULD be effortless! If it's not effortless, then you aren’t living with ease, and you are fighting a losing battle.
