So many people who are on a weight loss journey cannot sustain their healthy eating on the weekends...
Late night eating and weekend eating are the two biggest factors in a lack of weight loss success, in my view.
But here's the deal...what's at the root of your weekend fall away?
It's not that you don't know that it is happening...we always do.
It's not that you don't know what to do, because you do. You just don't really want to do it, because staying on track while on the weekend doesn't feel like 'fun', right?
They've got it all wrong. They are at war with themselves, with their inner Self.
It is likely (and this is my experience with clients over the years) that you are seeing the weekend as a 'reward'. A time off the clock, time to relax from a stressful week of work, responsibilities etc.
We are surrounded by others doing the same too, and we want to join them, enjoy the day. People want to conform. There is safety and justification in conforming. But it often goes against our life goals.
But this is the way I look at it: we 'reward' ourselves alot...maybe too much. We reward ourselves with Netflix, Facebook and Social Media Scrolling, holidays, shopping, etc.
Why then, do we need another 'reward' that is set up to dislodge all of our work, and to take us away from our goal?
What if you looked at it another way, instead of what you don't have (poor me, i want to enjoy like everyone else, I've done this clean eating thing for 5 days now...enough already!) look at it as what you are gaining, a new skill, getting closer to your goal, and living and operating NOT from the norm, but from your new values system. Is this not enough to want to uphold that which you want to see succeed?
Problem is too, we fall into the GroupThink...thinking like everyone else...that weekends are the time to 'let loose a bit', to not be so diligent, to enjoy with food and drink.
Says who? Have you ever questioned this?
I always say if the majority is doing it, it's a good enough reason to NOT do it. Because the majority doesn't ahve it right. Not in action, and not in thinking habits, either.
Be unique. Be different. Those of us who live lean, who have a good relationship with food, do NOT live or think like the majority. and we aren't swayed, because we live from Who We Are, from our centre, from, well, ease, really.
There is nothing to fight against, no need to 'reward' ourselves, because we don't feel the need. We are happy in our decisions and how we live.
And we watch how the majority lives, witha lack of focus or discipline or vision, and we think that how they live is odd, and that we have it right. There is no struggle...the struggle is all in our beliefs and how we see things.
This is not about being 'better' than anyone else, it really is about being 'different' than everyone else. The only reward is the one that makes us feel good and proud at the end of the day. I always say that us "lifestyle Athletes, as I call us, those of us who continue to exercise consistencly and eat well with ease, well, we think differently. That's all. There is no struggle.
Mindset, baby. It all comes down to mindset.
